After a long period of consultation Careline365, a market leader in personal care alarm services, chose Inspira as their trusted partner to migrate them from WooCommerce to Shopify Plus

Below we uncover how we approached the project, the challenge's we faced as we migrated this mature and complex subscription business to Shopify in just 12 weeks.

Planning the migration.

Our teams experience and knowledge of the Shopify platform combined with our flexible and agile delivery approach, was instrumental in helping Careline365 select Shopify for their next stage of growth.

Careline365 needed to remove complexity, innovate and modernise their digital operations. Enabling them to support the continued improvement of their life saving, market leading personal care alarm services.

With so much to consider for Careline365, it is unsurprising that discussions began nearly a year before the project commenced. Largely revolving around the suitability and practicality of Shopify for their operations.

After some some very careful consideration and some fantastic work to bring this over the line by the Inspira team. Careline365 chose to work with us to deliver the project. Citing that both our experience and critically, our ability to deliver within a fairly short timeframe of 12 weeks, was instrumental.

Processed, agile, with rapid prototyping.

Initially we worked closely with our SEO partners at Leftfield, building out a pre-migration audit. In simple terms this identified precisely which pages where of highest value to Careline365.

Graded based on traffic generation and/or SEO value it provided a clear roadmap for the optimal site structure for the new Shopify store as well as the highly valuable content and URLs that would need to be preserved when migrating.

This approach fed smoothly into the our design team, making it simple to prototype out the additional work required, early in the process.

With a short window to achieve the migration, we opted to avoid reinventing the wheel instead using a suitable modern Shopify 2.0 theme from the Shopify Theme Store as our starting point.

The selected theme didn't just save time and cost, it allowed us to rapidly prototype the store. Making it possible for the Careline365 team to identify were custom front end functionality was needed quickly and efficiently.

On the fly training, reduced friction & simplified internal adoption.

While the Shopify Platform can provide infinite possibilities, it's approach to standardising the data layer is a super power for our team. Combined with our agile approach which brought a prototype of the store together within the first 4 weeks of the project. It enabled a fast fluid and productive relationship with the Careline365 team.

In practical terms this mean't we could immediately start to train their internal team, exposing them to the Shopify admin and relevant store front theme settings. This helped them get familiar with the site, on the fly, whilst also allowing iterative testing in a relevant context.

We seek to focus on providing value where we are needed. Much of that value counter intuitively means we aim to help brands rely on us less over time. Careline365 are no exception.

In simple terms for this project it mean providing Careline365 with a platform that could be operated internally.

So in addition to preserving and streamlining Careline365’s current business platform, we also provided a solution that was highly cost effective and reusable.

The storefront theme and product setup was built in such a way that it could easily be mirrored across to any additional expansion store. We also leveraged Alvio to help seamlessly transfer orders from the legacy brand stores into the new site’s order process saving countless hours of migration costs for Careline365.

This approach made it simple for Careline365 to take control even allowing them to spin up new stores themselves with minimal support needed from the Inspira’s team.

It wasn't all plain sailing!

In any large and complex project, encountering a few unexpected challenges is a given. However Inspira's agile process and experienced development team relished the chance to flex their creative problem solving skills, resulting in some innovative and unique solutions – ensuring that we launched Careline365’s new site just one week later than planed.

The Careline365 purchase process raised a number of challenges that required some unique and customised solutions. These included

The Results

Despite some significant challenges, delaying the live date by just one week. The store went live with minimal disruption and calm organised delivery - just how we like it!
