Migrate to Shopify

Here’s a question we hear a lot: Should I be using Shopify for my business?

Migration to a new platform can involve a lot of work. So will it be worth it? Will Shopify definitely be the right fit?

As a Shopify Development Agency specialising in building ecommerce platforms, we can’t tell you how many times we have heard this one from clients. Our short answer, of course, is “Yes.” But in this article, we want to get into it a little deeper than that.

Because here’s the thing – we don’t recommend Shopify just because we primarily work with Shopify.

It’s actually the other way around: We choose to work with Shopify, because Shopify is just so damn good for modern online selling.

So if you’ve found yourself in that situation of wondering which ecommerce platform will be best for your business… Or perhaps you’re asking if right now is really the best time to be migrating your whole brand presence to a Shopify store…

We’re going to give you five solid reasons why we think Shopify is absolutely the right platform for you. Let’s dive in!

5 Reasons to Start Selling on Shopify Now

1. Shopify Admin provides a first class user experience

When we migrate our merchant clients to new stores on Shopify, they are often amazed at how much they can do with the new platform! Simply put, the Shopify Admin system is leaps and bounds ahead of its competitors. And a lot of this has to do with the user experience.

The Shopify back-end dashboard is one of the finest ecommerce tools out there.

No matter whether you’re a Shopify newbie, just trying to learn the basics of running an online store – or a veteran marketer eager to get stuck into deep processes and stats: Shopify’s dashboard will make sure all users can find the information they need, fast.

Shopify gives users access to detailed sales reports, plus streamlined customer and order management systems. The CMS for your store is one of the most logical and user-friendly we’ve encountered.

From adding new pages, to editing text, images, and layout – Shopify makes it easy to manage and modify your site as and when you need to, without having to learn coding, or bring in a developer!

2. Enjoy access to a rich ecosystem of apps and integrations

Shopify is always growing its offering, adding new functionality every year. Case in point, take a look at our summary of the best new Shopify features introduced in 2023!

The platform is 15 years old now, and by this point, Shopify is able to offer a – quite frankly – staggering range of tools and features, catering to all types of merchants.

But here’s the thing: Shopify offers a robust API (Application Programming Interface), which makes it easy for third party developers to create their own apps integrating neatly with the Shopify platform.

It means that even if Shopify doesn’t offer the precise functionality you wanted, there’s a high chance it already exists as a third party app. With more than 6000 apps already on offer, there’s simply vast potential here for customising your store.

Alternatively, you can hire a developer to create your own unique functionality or bespoke integrations. And FYI – This is one of the areas where Inspira excels, so don’t hesitate to contact us if you have an idea for a Shopify app or feature that doesn’t exist yet…

3. International and omnichannel commerce at your fingertips

No matter the shape of your business, Shopify is very good at adapting to fit. You might use the platform to supplement sales from your local bricks-and-mortar high street store… or to create an online-only direct-to-consumer mail order warehouse.

Alternatively, you can use Shopify to break into whole new markets and regions, by taking advantage of its fantastic internationalisation tools.

Shopify Markets makes it incredibly easy to build a presence in new regions, with built-in support for language and currency conversion.

Shopify also enables powerful multi-channel integrations. With only a few clicks, merchants can start selling through marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay, or on social media platforms including Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, and more.

4. Migrate to Shopify for secure and reliable online selling

A key consideration for any ecommerce platform is how it handles volume… as well as any potential malicious threats. And here, once again, Shopify knocks it out of the park.

Shopify is able to boast an impressive 99.999% average uptime! That’s while dealing with volume as high as a million page views per minute, or up to 10,000 transactions per minute. In terms of bandwidth and online reliability, you won’t find better.

As for cyber security, Shopify is protected with PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance, and the platform has its own dedicated security team looking out for the wellbeing and integrity of stores like yours.

So – when you migrate to Shopify, you can expect to enjoy some peace of mind, leaving you free to focus on running your brand.

5. Join the most flexible and forward-thinking ecommerce platform around

Scalability remains one of the most impressive pillars of the Shopify experience. Whether you’re a new startup, or even looking for an international commerce point for an enterprise-level brand – Shopify is flexible enough to cater perfectly to all comers.

It’s that golden balance: a low cost of entry… but a high ceiling for results.

Migrating to Shopify is also an investment into the future. Shopify and Shopify Plus are being updated constantly. Some of our current must-have features are things that didn’t even exist a few years ago!

As a result, signing up with Shopify gives you a front row ticket for the cutting edge of ecommerce tech – and it marks a clear competitive edge over Shopify competitors such as WooCommerce and Magento.

You’ll be in good company on Shopify!

Migrating to Shopify will keep you ahead of the curve… and your competitors. Just take it from some of our past clients:

We migrated Westend DJ from Magento to Shopify Plus. They were eager to move, given the high costs they were facing for maintenance and development on their former store. So we moved them to greener pastures – while giving their site a complete refresh, and bringing in new features only available with Shopify.

We also delivered a Shopify migration service for My Family Vets. Previously, they had built a proof of concept on Kentico, as their internal team were more familiar with that platform. However, they started to find that Kentico was a major drain on resources – demanding a significant investment of effort and cost. So we migrated them to Shopify instead, where they are now flourishing.
